Spreadhouse: New NYC coffee shop has vegan donuts and more!

This past weekend I made my way over to Spreadhouse Coffee: the new, extraordinarily vegan-friendly coffee shop on the Lower East Side. It is somewhat mysteriously affiliated with a film and media production company (and by “mysteriously” I mean: it is, I don’t understand why, and look: donuts!).

Yes, vegan peanut butter cup donuts to be precise. I am a doting fan and friend of Lauren: proprietor of Cake Thieves Bakery, who is the on-site, house baker for lucky, lucky Spreadhouse and its patrons. I pretty much followed her here.

Aside from all that yum, Spreadhouse also makes a mean vegan soy chai (or almond milk, if you prefer) and a host of other hot or iced caffeinated beverages and hot chocolate to pair with, say, a schmancy Hawaiian sea salt chocolate chip cookie.

In addition to the seemingly effortless baked offerings, there are plans in the works to offer a vegan brunch, which Cake Thieves has wowed us with in the past.

Aside from the obvious date/work/hang options, the considerable and imaginative space seems poised for limitless event possibilities. In fact, there are rumors circulating that it could be the site of a future iteration of a Vegan Shop-Up! No matter what, I will be sure to find excuses to make my way there- even when I am nowhere near the neighborhood.

I’m not gonna lie, there is one negative to note about Spreadhouse: no dogs allowed. Because she loves Lauren, 89 has agreed to let that slide.
