Here are the details! Get your tickets TODAY:

Monday, August 31
6pm – 9:30pm
$40/per person
RSVP beginning August 10th: authors@mohawk.la

The evening will include…
a four-course vegan meal straight from the cookbook along with craft beer and cocktail pairings. Plus, Annie and Dan will offer guests a Julia Child-inspired cooking demonstration so folks can recreate the dishes at home.

About Annie and Dan Shannon…
Annie and Dan Shannon, the authors of Betty Goes Vegan, are back. In their new book, they show readers how to cook creatively and thriftily with recipes, sidebars, and tips on stocking a pantry and using ingredients creatively.

Most recipes result in leftover ingredients and servings that can be reused in multiple ways, reducing waste in your kitchen while keeping your meals fresh and flavorful. Inspired by the recipes and cost-saving techniques used during the Depression and World War II and paying a vegan homage to Julia Child, The Shannons have figured out how to get the most out of what you’ve already invested so that you can spend less and get more. With recipes like Korean Kimchi BBQ Burgers, Vegan Yankee Pot Roast, Not-cho Everyday Chili Dogs, and Savannah Pecan Pies, MASTERING THE ART OF VEGAN COOKING offers a way to make eating vegan both affordable and delicious.

Paul Shapiro’s Animal News You Can Use! HUGE News!

Walmart—which sells 25{ae720e0b436026f867bfa0c31185c2252a138f27e85f5f152ec5acc1c10a8cc9} of groceries in the US—made an earthquake of an announcement this morning that it’s coming out against battery cages, gestation crates, and veal crates, among numerous other practices. As Wayne Pacelle notes about it today, “this is the most definitive statement yet that the era of confining farm animals in cages will come to an end.”

A new Gallup poll finds, among other things, that a majority of Americans are now concerned about the treatment of farm animals.

Yet while Americans care about farm animals, North Carolina lawmakers sent an ag-gag bill to Gov. Pat McCrory’s desk. Newspapers across the state are editorializing in favor of a veto. You can comment on his Facebook page (on any post there) urging him to veto it, too.

Finally, did you hear the one about the cattle rancher who went vegan and converted his ranch to a sanctuary? Check out ABC’s coverage.

Video of the week: What are HSUS’s opponents saying about the organization? Enjoy.

Meet Genesis Butler, an 8-year-old vegan who is brilliant,…

Meet Genesis Butler, an 8-year-old vegan who is brilliant,
adorable, and beyond reproach. She’s delivering her support for Meatless
Mondays in Long Beach, Calif., and she is SPOT THE EFF ON. (I didn’t
swear because a child is present.)

I love everything about
this video, except councilwoman Stacy Rose Mongo. This dummy thinks that
issuing a city council declaration means that the vegan police will go
into every restaurant on Monday and burn their meat supply. No, dummy.
It’s merely encouraging restaurants to serve up more veg
options on Mondays and get people to eat them. The smart businesses should offer up some delicious vegan dishes and advertise them
like crazy. That’s how you win friends. With salad. (Just not the kind
that dummy Stacy Rose Mongo is eating.)

Also, anyone else think Genesis should one day marry Luiz Antonio!? It’s gonna happen.
