“Donald J. Trump Getting Punched in the Face Vegan Donuts”
These delicious Meyer lemon glazed donuts are stuff with lemon curd and are topped with a thin lemon shortbread. They provide all of the satisfaction of punching trump in the face, without actual violence, and without getting his reptilian nazi skin slime all over your hand.
As if Cinnamon Snail has done enough for our lives already, what with vegan creme brûlée donuts and all. And as an added bonus, proceeds from the donuts will be donated to the New York Immigration Coalition. Get ‘em while they last at The Pennsy!
In yet another clear sign of our movement’s relentless march of progress for animals, yesterday HSUS announced with SeaWorld that the company’s ending its orca breeding program, and much more. Get the details here.
Want more evidence of our progress? The cover feature of the new Meatingplace magazine is about the soaring popularity of animal-free meats, declaring “plant protein is in.” And here to add fuel to that plant-powered fire is the newly-formed Good Food Institute.
Just how do we win so much? Well, in one of our ag opponent’s words this week about HSUS: “They never shut up.” At last, something on which we agree!
Finally, I love that it took a study to show the factory farmers that ag-gag laws erode trust in animal ag. But a study they did.

Wondering what all this means in terms of labels in the marketplace? I offer some guidance in this new Vox story.
As Vox notes, the easiest way to save money on food is to opt for plant-based options. Good news: HSUS is on it. Check out this week’s New Haven Register feature on our work helping schools slash their meat use. As such progress unfolds, the plant-based industry is organizing like never before. Move over DC meat lobby: plant power is coming to town—check out the NY Times’ coverage of the first plant-based industry lobby group.
Finally, in the greatest irony of the week, the pork industry’s crying that the agency tasked with regulating it—USDA—is “in bed with HSUS.” If only.

Well well well. Only 4 things this month but big sizes. I’m v intrigued by this Tara Smith Haircare product. Has a punk rock birdie on it! And everything is “tested on film stars, not animals” hahaha love it.
So back in September when Laura was visiting, we decided we had to go check out Three Brothers Vegan Cafe! So we rented a car for our big Long Island road trip (which my coworkers found endlessly hilarious), and we set out on our journey! Well actually, we got in the car at like 11 am and then realized the restaurant didn’t open until 4…so what to do? I did a yelp search for ANYTHING vegan that we could do on the way. Lo and behold: Long Island has its own all-vegan bakery: Sweet to Lick!
What a happy discovery! Sweet to Lick is THE JAM. I mean, look at this s’mores cake, can you even?!?!?!?!!?1/1!!11?!?!!1?
And then they had this cookie covered cake!
The cakes were v impressive but we stuck with the smaller items. Like the items up top AND THIS BOMB SMORES BAR:
Now the only thing I like better than sweet baked goods is savory baked goods! Idk I just love a savory pastry. And I was in luck! Sweet to Lick has many yummy seitan pastries and whatnot:
Moral of the story: This is a MUST-STOP if you’re in Long Island! And it makes the perfect lunch destination on your way to Three Brothers. Dang, Long Island, you got it going ON!
