Local eye candy and ace Jezebel reporter Mark Shrayber met Grumpy Cat irl! Go ahead and read his riveting account, lots of poor Allen moments—which are the only moments I care for.
Yup, rugs too: 8 vegan rugs for your flooring pleasure
Is that title sexual? It’s not meant to be. Don’t take it that way. I said DON’T!
Moving on. Your friend Megan has been on the rug hunt lately because The Gorgeous Kitties of Wrestling are bothering my downstairs neighbors. So I’mma just like cover the whole place. But then I remembered WOOL: that dang shiz is everywhere in the rug world. We don’t talk about housewares much, vegans mostly talk food I think, but in case you are in the rug market I thought I’d share some of my best vegan finds with you. Congratulations!
So the image at the top is my most favorite rug I own thus far. It’s from West Elm and made of jute and chenille. I heart it so hard. BUT I will say it gets little bits of fiber on my clothes so that’s annoying but…it’s so pretty! Annoying and pretty—just like yours truly. For my bedroom though I wanted to find a rug that wouldn’t shed much because I’m a terribly messy adult and throw my clothes all over the floor. I’d rather not lint roll my jeans every day. I ended up getting the above pretty rug from Land Of Nod! It’s made from recycled ribbons and does not shed at all! And it’s nice and thick so wrestle mania body slams are somewhat deadened.
Land Of Nod a store for kids but it has pretty much the greatest stuff. A lot less expensive than West Elm btw. Omg and check out this adorable notebook paper rug, so cute! All cotton too.
I haven’t purchased anything from this site yet but I love this fair isle 100{ae720e0b436026f867bfa0c31185c2252a138f27e85f5f152ec5acc1c10a8cc9} cotton rug from Dash and Albert. And they say they are dedicated to fair-labor practices so that’s good.
Another company with pretty cotton rugs is Hook & Loom. I love this one:And all their cotton rugs are “eco cotton,” made from 100{ae720e0b436026f867bfa0c31185c2252a138f27e85f5f152ec5acc1c10a8cc9} recycled material. They also seem to be human-friendly with regard to their workers. Another fairtrade eco-cotton option is Fab Habitat. I like this striped number above. Oh no, I’m running out of floor space!
If you have an odd-shaped space and want a wool-like rug, there’s also this nice “better than wool” design from Flor:
If you don’t know, Flor is a rug system that’s like a bunch of squares you can put together. Easy to clean cause you can just take the dirty square out of the mix and go clean it. And apparently your bitty dog will like to sit on it! That bitty guy seems pleased.
Here’s another interesting option I found, it’s made of recycled tshirts! Fairtrade too:
It’s a bit funny but I think it’d be a nice alternative to a shag rug. Shag rugs are often wool but even when they aren’t, they shed like cray! If you can’t tell, I’m not a fan of the shedding rug. This is only sized as a runner but, hey, I need a runner.
And for my last trick, I like this red jute number by Safavieh:
Hopefully this journey into vegan rugdom has been as much fun for you as it’s been for me.
xoxo

PS: Here’s Dolores being scared of my new rug:
More vegan cheese news! Not a new product, but Punk Rawk…
More vegan cheese news! Not a new product, but Punk Rawk Labs (my fave vegan cheese personally) bought ad space from us to introduce their new packaging and I was like…OMG IT’S ADORBS! But it is, right? Hint: RIGHT!
Oh, did you want to know my favorite Punk Rawk option? Sure I can tell you, I don’t mind. I heart the one that’s a mix of macadamia and cashew and has the herbs! YUMSVILLE, POPULATION OF ME!
Hiya pals! Time to look inside last month’s Vegan Cuts Beauty…
Hiya pals! Time to look inside last month’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box!
Hmmm, what do we have here…first of all, Floss Gloss nail polish! This polish comes highly recommended by DearCally so YOU KNOW it’s good. I’m also super into the Lovinah coffee scrub. And there was a whole slew Hylunia products! Those were quite popular around the office. The Hylunia night treatment is getting great reviews from my friend in Accounts. And then there was also the Lotus Wei balancing serum I gave to my art director who TOTES needs balancing LIKE WHOA.
Another good cruelty-free beauty product party!
I got this for free but if you want to try it, the box subscription is $19.95 a month, shipping included (for US addresses. International is more).
Everyone at work is making fun because I’m slightly hyper…
Everyone at work is making fun because I’m slightly hyper today and I think they are tiring of my new hit single “Popcorn for Breakfast” so I will channel my energy into more important things, like vegan food porn. Behold!: vegan brunch potato lasagna from Fitting Into Vegan!
There are a few things we need to address here. Firstly, WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME POTATO LASAGNA WAS A THING. And secondly, WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME BRUNCH LASAGNA WAS A THING. In reviewing the last two points, I’ve decided I hate you. Until you make me brunch potato lasagna, we can’t be friends.
